The Story Behind

Rita is my nickname, my real name is Eleftheria which translates from Greek as "freedom". I was born on the island of Crete, Greece.

For over 10 years I now live in Provence, France. I have worked various jobs in my life but all of them have a common interest - people.

I love people, to be with them, to share, to exchange, to live... Another passion of mine are retro / vintage things, my house is full of them. Last but not least I like to travel and discover new places, cultures, habits and of course people.

My philosophy in life, probably because I'm Greek, is to live and appreciate the moment. I truly believe that only the present time counts and for me this is the definition of freedom since life is a series of moments some of which we let go but others that make us happy we keep and carry with us.

One of these moments for me was my first experience with instant Photography. Back in the 80s I used to visit my close relatives in Athens and my mother took us to parliament square Syntagma to feed the birds, I was 7 years old at the time. Someone proposed to take our photo on the spot and my mother agreed. When we saw ourselves there and then I was truly fascinated, surprised and so happy. I took that photo and decorated my room with it. This memory of my first Polaroid experience popped up in my mind when recently in search of finding what it is that I really want to do in life professionally and looking around me I realized that my collection of old Polaroid cameras were just sitting there staring at me. And so the click happened, the flash was on and the puzzle was complete.

The idea of capturing unique moments of unique places, faces instantly in a real photo, each time an unedited one-off and full of magic, nostalgia and surprise is, for me, fulfillment. So here I am today creating Rita’sklik.
